XXL Freshmen 2015: Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, & Abillyon Pitch [Video]

XXL Freshmen 2015 is coming and the freshman hopefuls are gearing up to possibly make this year’s class. With the 10th Spot voting happening now, we have to let the potentials tell us why they should appear on this year’s cover.

Bobby Shmurda pretty much owned summer 2014 with his infectious viral hit "Hot Nigga." The then unknown Brooklyn native unleashed the video in late March, and by the summer, the visual acquired over 1 million YouTube views. This had the 20-year-old sharing stages with Meek Mill, Raekwon and Drake. Not to mention, everyone from Chris Brown to Beyonce was doing the Shmoney Dance. "Hot Nigga" earned Shmurda a deal with Epic Records in July, leading to the introduction of his entire collective, GS9. Bobby then released his second single "Bobby Bitch" and the Shmurda She Wrote EP. His GS9 cohorts, Rowdy Rebel and Abillyon, also penned a deal with Epic, and later followed with tracks like "Computers" and "Weight Up," solidifying that rap group has more than just one star. In December of 2014, Bobby, Rowdy Rebel and 13 other GS9 members were arrested and charged with 69 counts ranging from gun possession to conspiracy to second degree murder. The XXL Freshmen 10th Spot will run from March 16 to March 22. This is where the public gets the chance to vote an artist into XXL Freshmen Class.
