Teklife's DJ Earl and producer Nick Hook connect for 50 Backwoods, an album set for release on Dec. 8 through Fool's Gold Records. The first single from the project, "Hook Chop," features New York rapper Wiki.

Hook and Earl only started working together this year and recorded 50 Backwoods over one week in Brooklyn. The two producers look to continue the late DJ Rashad's legacy, making a genre-bending project that draws inspiration from footwork, hip-hop and more.

"We always had a vibe, but after Rashad passed we ended up getting closer," Nick explains. "Carrying on Rashad's legacy is a part of what we do everyday. Earl had played me a ton of new demos, him singing on stuff for the first time, it was just really inspiring. Somewhere in that time we said, we should try and go on tour, and make a record for the tour. We had no plan, except enjoy every second of it. Wiki came thru, Melo-X came thru and we met the illest MC from Jamaica named Jacks. Oh yeah, and we smoked 50 backwoods in a week."

50 Backwoods features contributions from MeLo-X and Jamaican rapper Jacks. To go along with the eight-track project, DJ Earl and Nick Hook will start their U.S. tour beginning on Dec. 6 in Raleigh, N. C. and capping off on Dec. 23 in Oakland.
