Tiffany Foxx has hit the ground running ever since she aligned herself with her mentor Lil Kim. The St. Louis spitter, who came up under the likes of Snoop Dogg, has made enough strides in the rap industry to finally come into her own. After building her solo career with 2010’s HERstory (made with the all-female group June5th), 2012’s Yellow Tape, and 2013’s Gold Diggers, T. Foxx’s latest mixtape is ready to take her to the status she’s worked so hard for. “I want people to take me serious. I want people to take me out of anybody else’s shadow,” Foxx says. “I’m ready to go to the next level and appeal to the masses.”

On King Foxx, she plans on giving fans a glimpse into her versatility. Originally set for Valentine’s Day, the push for today’s release date comes from constantly working on material and setting aside the right tracks that fit the tape. “For this, I was like, ‘You know what? I’ma give them exactly who I am.,’” Foxx says. “The ratchet side. The lyrical side. The passionate side of Tiffany Foxx and the very creative, different side.”

Foxx’s third mixtape should appease listeners who have admired her growing process as an artist. At this point in her career, Foxx believes she’s ready to step out of Kim’s shadow. With the lead track “Young N Thuggin” making an impact online, she’s already on the right path to becoming a household name. “Of course, doors definitely opened because of the association with me and Kim. Like she said, she deal with me ‘cause she don’t have to babysit,” she says. “I have my own brand. I am my own boss. At the end of the day, she’s my best friend. We are business partners and I get it. But at the same time, I want to be known as Tiffany Foxx. The king.”
