Streaming juggernaut Spotify and leading lyric annotation site Genius have teamed up for a new initiative that brings lyrics and facts about songs straight to Spotify playlists via the "Fact Track" feature. The "Behind the Lyrics with Genius (Hip-Hop)" Spotify playlist features lyrics, fun facts and stories from the artists on the screen as the song plays. The example above of how the "Fact Track" product works is Yo Gotti's "Down In the DM" and includes annotations straight from the Memphis rapper. A press release from Genius likens the new feature to a digital version of the popular VH1 show Pop-Up Video, which played music videos as quirky facts and stories flashed across the screen.

Along with the initial "Behind the Lyrics with Genius (Hip-Hop)" playlist, Tinashe, Diplo and Pusha T have contributed playlists to the partnership. Pusha's list features songs from his solo albums, collabs with the likes of Kanye West and Clipse classics such as "Grindin'."

"I've partnered with Genius and Spotify to take you 'Behind The Lyrics' of my greatest songs because every word that I write means something to me," says the Virginia native. "Together we've found a way to bring my fans a deeper listening experience and raise the bar for songwriters"

A pop playlist called "Behind the Lyrics with Genius: HITS" will drop soon. The Genius-powered playlists are currently only available for iPhone users. Here is a full list of songs on Spotify that have "Fact Track."
