Snoop Dogg Applauds Colin Kaepernick for Bringing Awareness to Social Issues
With the start of the NFL season kicking off last week, Colin Kaepernick is still a hot topic, as he remains unsigned. Snoop Dogg was recently a guest on ESPN's First Take, where he touched on the current situation and gave props to the former 49ers QB.
"What did he do so bad?" said Snoop, when asked his thoughts about Kaepernick seemingly being blackballed for his National Anthem protests last season. "I done seen players in the league that ... I ain't even gonna say what they did. Y'all know what they did. But it wasn't worse than what [Kaepernick] did."
He added, "He peacefully protested, the word is peacefully. I've seen some protest in Charlottesville that wasn't peaceful so it's like shows the benefits of what he did on the positive side, which he brought some awareness to something that's actually happening as we speak."
This isn't the first time Snoop Dogg has been asked about Kaepernick's protest. Last December, he appeared on Fox Sports 1’s Undisputed where he was critical of some of the football player's actions.
“He’s sort of kind of hypocritical in so many words because he’s pushing this, but at the same time he’s giving credit for this and this is the same abuse that [Cubans] been taking,” Snoop said in response to Kaepernick wearing a Fidel Castro shirt. “It makes you hypocritical to be able to speak on this topic and that topic. That’s why I say he doesn’t have a team. If he had a team, they’d tell him, ‘You can’t say this.'”
Aside from that instance, it looks like Snoop is now down to ride for the ball player. He isn't the only rapper. JAY-Z recently shouted Kaepernick out during a show at the 2017 Meadows Music and Arts Festival.
