Ski Mask The Slump God, Jaden Smith, J.I.D and More: Videos This Week
This has already been an incredible year for rap videos. Hip-hop artists are taking their craft to another level outside of the booth; it shows in the visuals they've been dropping. With that said, there's a lot of new stuff you need to see, which can be hard to keep up with. Don't trip though, XXL got you.
One of our 2018 XXL Freshmen, J.I.D, has spent this year working towards the release of his sharp new album, DiCaprio 2. Now that it's out, he's been taking advantage of the well-deserved press he's received, including his performance on The Tonight Show. His new video is for his single "Off Deez," which features the Dreamville captain, J. Cole. In the visual, the two exchange bars as chalk drawings play out their lyrics. This looks like it was a fun shoot, with both rappers visibly enjoying the process.
Jaden Smith, who not too long ago insisted that he and Tyler, The Creator were an item, has a crazy new video for his song "Goku." The song's title is a clear reference to the anime Dragon Ball Z, with Jaden emulating some of the powers displayed in it. Taking place in the streets of Japan, the video is well-shot and aesthetically pleasing.
Ski Mask The Slump God recently dropped his impressive debut album, Stokeley. He's now channeling his one-of-a-kind energy into videos for the project; in comes the new visual for "La La." It all kicks off with Ski getting into a car accident, then later getting out of the vehicle in a sort of zombie state. An evildoer evidently wants to cause some harm to Ski; an old friend saves the rapper.
