No I.D. Named Executive Vice President of Def Jam

Longtime Kanye West mentor and fellow Chicago producer No I.D. is finally stepping out from behind the boards. The G.O.O.D. Music associate revealed during ASCAP's Pre-VMA bowling mixer in Hollywood this past weekend that he is now the new executive vice president of Def Jam Recordings.

In an interview with Billboard, the beatsmith responsible for hits from everyone from Jay-Z to Common to Big Sean revealed his plans in the new position. "I'm going to keep on doing what I'm doing and take it to another level," he said.

"Def Jam is a cultural staple," he added. "It's not just a label, it's part of the culture that I came up in and that I've been involved with for 20 years. It's very important that the next generation of executives grab it by the horns and keep it on track as it grows." —Gina Montana
