On the music front, Nipsey's most recent release, Mailbox Money, dropped right before 2015 hit. With a $1,000 price tag, the rapper moved 60 copies in a three week span making his Proud 2 Pay movement a success. “It surprises me,” he told The Guardian. “As much as I believe in it. Every time I get a transaction, I get a text on my phone, and I’ve been hitting them back. The feedback and the connection I have with these people help me understand the psychology of the person paying $1,000 for some songs that, realistically, you could download for free.” Nip has been working on his follow up album Victory Lap and spoke with Big Boy's Neighborhood about the project saying "I just been in album mode. It's coming this year for sure. Once I'm done it's not gonna take long to get out.
