Trippie Redd’s ‘Life’s a Trip’ Album Debuts in Billboard 200 Top Five

For the better part of 2018, Trippie Redd had been heavily promoting his debut album, Life's a Trip. Now, nearly a week and a half following its Aug. 10 release, the 2018 XXL Freshman's efforts have paid off in a big way on the charts.

Big 14's album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4 this week, following Travis Scott's chart-topping Astroworld, Nicki Minaj's Queen and Drake's Scorpion. Of the 72,000 equivalent album units sold, 15,000 are from traditional album sales, beating out his previous chart entries, A Love Letter to You and A Love Letter to You 2.

On Saturday (Aug. 18), Trippie called Life's a Trip "the greatest body of work" he's created thus far. "I’m really proud of my self I feel so good cause I worked really hard to get to this point," he shared via Instagram. The 14-track LP—which was included in XXL's best hip-hop projects list of 2018 so far—contains features from Atlanta natives Young Thug and Reese LaFlare on "Forever Ever," and his previously-released track "Dark Knight Dummo" with Travis Scott. His track "Missing My Idols" originated from his 2018 XXL Freshman freestyle.

Aside from his solo effort, Trippie recently teamed up with Lil Yachty for his "66" video, a standout track off his latest project, Lil Boat 2. He was also announced as one of the guests artists who will join Travis Scott on his Astroworld: Wish You Were Here tour, alongside Gunna and Sheck Wes.
