Meek Mill Launches Label With Jay-Z’s Roc Nation

Meek Mill's Dream Chasers label has found a home at Jay-Z's Roc Nation.

On Tuesday morning (July 24), Meek and Hov brought the Philadelphia native's Dream Chasers label under Roc Nation's umbrella. Meek Mill's Dream Chasers movement began in 2012 when he signed artists like Louie V. Gutta, Lee Mazin, Goldie and the late Lil Snupe, who he signed in 2013. Later on, Meek added his cousin Omelly to the roster as well as Nick Papz, YBS Skola and the latest signee Calboy. At the moment though, Variety reports that no artists are listed under Meek's imprint.

“Coming out of prison, I felt I had a responsibility to lead the culture as much as I can,” Meek Mill said. “Jay-Z and others that came before me were like the snow plow that made it easier for me and others. I want to be the snow plow of the next generation, taking on those responsibilities, trying to move forward and push the culture forward.”

This is the second organization that Meek has launched recently. Last year, Meek and Jay-Z launched Reform Alliance, which aims to rectify criminal justice practices throughout the country. Reform Alliance's founding team also includes CNN's Van Jones as CEO along with other members like New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, Nets co-owner Clara Wu Tsai, Third Point LLC founder Daniel S. Loeb, Galaxy Digital founder Michael E. Novogratz and Vista Equity Partners founder Robert F. Smith.

“Everything he has done leading up to this point shows he is ready to [lead] the next generation. We look at the big picture — this is way beyond signing artists and having hot records," Jay-Z said about Meek's Dream Chasers imprint.
