Lupe Fiasco Says He’s on Pace to Be a G.O.A.T. Lyricist
Lupe Fiasco is considered by many hip-hop fans to be one of rap's best lyricists, but on Friday (Oct. 27), the Chicago MC took it one step further, calling himself a potential G.O.A.T.
Earlier today, Lupe began tweeting about his 2007 song "Dumb It Down," revealing the track was originally supposed to be called "Space Traveling." Lupe then started tweeting about meeting JAY-Z, who said he was nice, a moment Lupe called the highlight of his career.
"Once I met Jay-Z and he said I was nice. I was actually done with rap. My initial passions have always been Science and theoretical physics," he tweeted. "So once I got my Jay-Z co-sign Who was unquestionably my favorite rapper at the time. It wasn't anything left for me personally that I wanted to achieve as a rapper."
This led to Lupe discussing people who believe he's underrated or overrated. While the Drogas Light rapper wouldn't choose a label, he did say listeners would be "hard pressed" to say he's not one of the best lyricists ever.
"I have nearly every accolade there is to have in the music business the only thing left is to be the GOAT Lyricist & that's the pace I'm on," he wrote. The rapper then tweeted a picture of Pablo Picasso sitting on a goat statue, captioning it, "Me with a goat. #TBE."
While Lupe appeared to be serious about his tweets, the rapper also had some fun with them, asking fans to create pictures of a goat wearing Jordans with the phrase, "I'm On Goat Pace."
