With his 2010 debut album, Flockaveli, Waka Flocka Flame did something few rappers are able to do: craft an album that perfectly captures the pop landscape of the time. Lex Luger's beats rattled and menaced, Flocka's barks followed suit. But as the commercial tides turned, he hopped squarely onto the EDM bandwagon, figuring it his best shot at commercial viability and those lucrative festival payouts. The decision proved a wise one; Flocka and DJ Whoo Kid just wrapped up the first leg of their Turn Up Godz tour, which took them to college campuses and their adjacent bars, spreading a gospel of glow sticks and cheap vodka. To celebrate, the pair enlisted promoter-turned-DJ Steve Aoki and codeine cowboy Future for "Get High With Me." The song, produced by Luger and his partner Southside as 808 Mafia, is less raucous than the name of Flocka and Whoo Kid's tour might suggest, but if you listen closely, it--and post-divorce Future in particular--are just as unhinged.
