Lil Wayne’s “Karate Chop” Remix Stirs Up Controversy
Looks like Valentine's Day isn't as sweet as Lil Wayne hoped it would be.
Epic Records has been apologizing for some "disrespectful lyrics" that Lil Wayne featured on his remix of Future's "Karate Chop." The subject of these lyrics is Emmitt Till, a teenager that was killed for whistling at a white woman half a century ago.
"We regret the unauthorized remix version of Future's 'Karate Chop,' which was leaked online and contained hurtful lyrics," reads the label's statement. "Out of respect for the legacy of Emmett Till and his family and the support of the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson Sr….we are going through great efforts to take down the unauthorized version."
