Kim Kardashian appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Monday (April 30) as a special guest. The 37-year-old touched on a multitude of topics including her husband Kanye West and their newly born daughter Chicago, and revealed that it wasn't the first choice for a name.

According to Kim, Kanye was set on naming their daughter Donda, after his late mother who passed away in 2007 at the age of 53. "He really wanted his mother's name," says the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star. "I love that name too, but I just wasn't sure that was too much to live up to."

Chicago holds a special place in Kanye's heart with so many memories growing up in the Midwest, which made it a solid consolation choice. Kim initially wanted to keep the one syllable name streak going like she had with her first two children, but settled on the nickname "Chi." "That is a place that made him, and a place that he remembers his family from," Kim continued. She also said Grace was a possible name choice but "just felt Chicago was cool and different."

Kim went on to admit her husband was actually in the other room with his friends playing Connect 4 during the birth of Chicago, who was born via surrogate.

The 40-year-old made waves in hip-hop news on Tuesday, as he posted his nearly two-hour conversation with Charlamagne Tha God and even stopped by TMZ Live where Yeezy touched on his belief that slavery was a choice in America and also revealed his previous struggles with opioid addiction.
