Last night (August 6), Jon Stewart hosted Comedy Central's esteemed news satire program, The Daily Show, for the final time. Stewart has long been revered as not only one of America's foremost comics, but perhaps its most visible, most incisive and best news and politics watchdog. The last week mostly returned to Stewart's comedic roots, foregoing political guests for those who he sees as peers. However, during last night's penultimate segment, he dipped into waters he's only grazed before: the world of vitriolic hip-hop beef. His "Three Different Kinds of Bullshit" monologue, already making the rounds on the Internet, tore apart the various ways Americans are lied to. Stewart broke it down into three distinct categories: making a bad thing sound like a good thing; hiding the damning information under mountains of bullshit; and those who refuse to take any constructive action under the guise of due diligence.

It was the second point that invoked the MCs. "I would love to download Drizzy's latest Meek Mill diss," Stewart cracked, before (ahem) meekly adding that his writers had promised him the reference would make sense to viewers. The implication, of course, is that both Meek and Aubrey have buried the substantive parts of their dispute so far under heaps of nonsense--Twitter spats, memes, misogyny, misdirection--that there's no way to cut through to the core. For what it's worth, Meek has now dissed Drake during a second Pinkprint Tour stop, this time in Camden, NJ. “I still wake up with the lady that you said you first in line with."
