Roc Nation Sports agent Jay Z managed to redeem himself after a last-minute request for a 10-year contract that could have gone sour.

According to sources Thursday night revealed by the New York Daily News, Cano’s camp—which includes Jay Z—was close to signing a deal the Seattle Mariners. The deal consists of a 9-year contract that worth $225 million with the team. However, the Daily News reported Jay asked for a larger deal, which Mariners CEO Howard Lincoln wasn’t too pleased about.

In merely a few hours, things were on track again. The Mariners ended up signing Cano for $240 million, ending his time with the Yankees. Cano is reportedly set to head out to Seattle, while the Yankees will have a new second baseman.

You can’t deny Jay is good at what he does.
