Jay Z to Headline 2017 V Festival
Jay Z has been named one of the official headliners for the 2017 V Festival alongside singer Pink.
The festival, set to take place on Aug. 19 and 20 in England, features some other great rap acts including Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy, Krept & Konan in addition to singers Jason Derulo, Craig David and Sean Paul, among others.
This is great news for Jay Z fans, especially if he has any intent on releasing a new album this year. The last Jay Z album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, came in 2013. There hasn't been any confirmation on a new LP but it has been confirmed that he's been in the studio.
Over the weekend, a beat battle happened between legendary producers Swizz Beatz and Just Blaze, where Swizz previewed a new track featuring Hov, Nas, Jadakiss and DMX. Although only a portion of Hov’s verse was played, it solidified that some new music is definitely on the way.
While Hov is hitting the road this summer, it doesn’t seem like his wife, Beyonce, will be doing the same. Queen Bey was scheduled to headline Coachella this year alongside Kendrick Lamar but due to her new pregnancy, she will no longer take part in the festival.
As a headliner at V Festival and the expectancy of his new twins, Mr. Carter will be a busy man and we’re only three months into the year. He was recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, which is a pretty impressive accomplishment for a guy who has never written down a bar.
In the beginning of the year, he sold a third of TIDAL to Sprint for $200 million and increased TIDAL's value to $600 million. Not to mention, there has been news circulating that he is on the verge of partnering up with a few big hitters to start a VC fund. This guy can't be stopped.
