Jay Z Trash Talks Chris Paul for Running the Same Play Four Times
Three years ago Jay Z sold off his ownership stake in the Barclays Center and the team that plays in it, the Brooklyn Nets. But that doesn't mean Hov can't still enjoy the games with his queen.
Last night (Feb. 29), Hov and Bey were in Los Angeles to take in the Clippers-Nets game at the Staples Center. Following L.A.'s 105-95 win, Clippers point guard Chris Paul went over to pay his respects to the rapper and his wife. Instead of getting a congratulations for his 23-point, 12-assist, 6-rebound performance, Hov joked with CP3 about running the same pick-and-roll play over and over again to close out the game.
"You ran that same play four times in a row," joked the Brooklyn native. "What's that about?"
No need to try and fix what isn't broken. Plus, when going up against a 17-43 team like the Nets, it's not necessary to open up the whole playbook.
Chris Paul and Jay Z have a long history together and the All-Star said Jay was "like a big brother." “I seek him out for advice all the time about different types of things,” Paul told ESPN in 2012.
The game itself was entertaining with 11 lead changes and 13 different ties, but the big story of the game was the introduction of the Clippers new mascot, Chuck the California Condor. Introduced at halftime by team owner Steve Ballmer, the mascot descended down from the rafters and once the clip hit social media, Chuck felt the wrath of the people.
No one was more outspoken about his disdain for the mascot than Vince Staples. The rapper took to Twitter and went off, tweeting, "What does that bird have to do with the Clippers. Elton Brand didn't die for this."
Staples has claimed to hate Chris Paul in the past, but not enough to root for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers instead.
