Ja Rule Is Leaning Towards Acting As He Gets Older

Ja Rule's release from prison earlier this year has been followed by a few songs and a role in an upcoming film, titled I'm In Love With A Church Girl, due out October 18. And, in a recent interview with the Associated Press, Ja says that acting may be more where he's headed in the future.

"I love music, it's my passion," he said. "This is my second wind right now, and I'm happy to be home, but I think as I'm getting older, my passion is leaning toward doing more television and film. Music is my heart, but I see television and more movies in the next stage of my life."

In the upcoming movie, Ja plays a drug dealer struggling to leave the game behind while he begins a relationship with a church girl. Screenwriter and producer Galley Molina said he hired Ja despite his criminal history, as he himself had prior felony convictions for drug trafficking, for which he spent five years in prison. "People used to ask, 'Well, you know he's a felon?' And I would say, 'Well, so am I,'" he said. "I know his heart. I know what type of dude he is and he was probably one of the most professional guys on the set."

Ja released a song, "Fresh Out Da Pen," last month.
