Today, March 6, is the 27th birthday of Tyler Okonma, better known by his stage name, Tyler, The Creator.

Tyler hails from Los Angeles, Calif. and is the leader of the hip-hop collective Odd Future, the home of fellow musicians Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis and Frank Ocean. Known for his unforgettable outbursts, style of comedy plus unique lyricism and production, Tyler can most certainly be credited with delivering a style of rap that has never before been seen.

Tyler's self-produced 2009 debut mixtape Bastard earned the attention of the Internet and his 2011 album Goblin, released through XL Records, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and earned the Odd Future frontman an MTV VMA award for Best New Artist. His 2013 album, Wolf , which Tyler described as "weird hippie music" featured guest spots the likes of Erykah Badu, Frank Ocean and Pharrell. And in 2015, on his album Cherry Bomb, the rapper raised his game with sinister lyrics and features from Schoolboy Q, Charlie Wilson and Kanye West.

The year 2017 saw Tyler following up with his album, Flower Boy. The album was critically well-received, and earned him a Best Rap Album Grammy nomination.

In addition to music, Tyler has showed off his creativity in other ways. The MC created the Adult Swim sketch comedy show, Loiter Squad. The show starred Tyler and other members of Odd Future and ran from 2012 to 2014. Tyler has also launched his own app and fashion line called Golf Wang, and has expanded it into other avenues of fashion.

Happy Birthday, Tyler!
