Today, Nov. 9, marks the birthday of Bronx rapper and original "Coke Boy" French Montana! He is now 34.

Since breaking out with hits like "Pop That," "Ain't Worried About Nothin" and "Shot Caller," the Moroccan-born Montana has become one of the hottest acts out of New York City in the last several years.

In 2015, French dropped a joint mixtape with 2015 XXL Freshman Fetty Wap, following up with the Max B-hosted Wave Gods in 2016. Initially, French announced his sophomore album, MC4, wouldn't be dropped due to several release date issues, then Epic Records strangely dropped the LP on Nov. 6 after it was leaked online. Though it featured guest appearances from the likes of Kanye West, Miguel, Drake, Jeezy, ASAP Rocky, Kodak Black, Nas and Chinx, it was the the single "No Shopping" featuring Drake that became the clear standout. In summer 2016, XXL caught up with the Coke Boy about the album, his connection to Max B from jail and more for our first digital cover. Check it out here.

In 2017, French has hopped on tracks in just about every genre, and in September even stepped into the international lane. His biggest hit of all time, however, was this year's "Unforgettable" with Rae Sremmurd's Swae Lee. The single was named as one of Spotify's Global Top 30 Songs of the Summer and peaked at No. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100 in August.

In other French-related news, the rapper joined Wiz Khalifa in Netflix's hip-hop flick, The After Party starring fellow former XXL Freshman, Kyle.  He's also recently appeared on the cover of GQ Middle East.

Happy Birthday, French!
