Marvel is going hip-hop crazy with their variant cover collabs. For the second time this month, they put out a set of five new mash ups. This time, the batch includes alternates featuring Future, Consequence, Masta Ace, Blackalicious and Czarface.

Two weeks ago, the comic book giant unveiled variants featuring Dr. Dre, Nas, Missy Elliott, EPMD and Prodigy & Alchemist. This week's selection is just as ill with Hendrix's Beast Mode mixtape, Cons' Don't Quit Your Day Job, Masta Ace's Sittin on Chrome, Blackalicious' Blazing Arrow and Czarface's Every Hero Needs a Villain all getting the cartoon treatment.

Marvel's run of variants started with a collaboration with Run the Jewels a couple years back and has blossomed into something hip-hop and comic book heads get hype about.

XXL spoke to Marvel editor-in-chief Alex Alonso about the marriage in 2015. "I love the idea of doing the hip-hop variants of classic hip-hop album cover art," he said when asked to pinpoint collabs for the future. "To be honest though, I don’t know. Just like how the RTJ cover happened, it kind of snuck up on us and on me. There’s an on-going dialogue that’s getting louder and louder. When I look at the artists out there who [are] diehard hip-hop fans—just off the top of my head, Juan Doe, Scott James, Skottie Young, Corey Pandolph, Jason Latour—all these guys are hip-hop heads and they are not alone. It's just going to happen naturally."
