It wasn't all bad at the BET Hip-Hop Awards over the weekend. While guys like Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and Gunplay were involved in altercations, former foes Fat Joe and 50 Cent put their issues behind them. Joe spoke with Philadelphia's Hot 107.9 and explained to host Q Deezy that the two two New York rappers share common ground.

"The same guy who discovered him, discovered me: Chris Lighty," Joe said of the late Lighty, who he credits with saving his life. "He always wanted me and 50 Cent to make peace forever, but was just being stubborn and ignoring him."

Though the Bronx rapper knew his one-time rival would be in the building, he wasn't sure what would happen. "I knew 50 Cent would be there," he continued. "We gonna do this for Chris. While we was there, 50 whispered some things in my ear that was gentleman like."

At the end of the day, it was a new perspective that helped them move forward. "It took two grown men to say, This for Chris Lighty; this is for hip-hop," he concluded. "Let's move on with our lives." —Adam Fleischer (@AdamXXL)
