With seven chart-topping albums, a box office smash, endorsement deals, clothing lines, and production credits under his belt, Eminem’s legacy has been cemented and the kid from Detroit is already considered one of the best to ever do it. As if we needed any more proof of the MC’s amazing career, Marshall Mathers has recently passed country singer George Strait to become the second highest selling male artist of the SoundScan era. Em now sits behind country singer Garth Brooks.

The numbers are staggering. Eminem has now sold 44.91 million units (good enough for sixth overall in the past 23 years), and everyone of his albums has gone at least double Platinum. The rapper’s latest release, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, recently went double platinum and is still doing numbers.

Along with impressive album sales, Eminem also recently charted the Billboard Hot 100 for the 50th time with his song “Headlights.” The single, which features fun.’s Nate Ruess, debuted at No. 86 and is the sixth song from MMLP2 to make it to the charts. Em is just the seventh rapper to earn at least 50 Hot 100 chart entries and his five No. 1 Hot 100 records tie him with Diddy and Ludacris for the most all time amongst hip-hop artists.—Peter Walsh
