Who says Eminem doesn’t care about his younger fans? According to the Detroit Free Press, the rap superstar recently granted 8th grader, Annie Reed from Troy, Michigan a phone interview for her East Hills Middle School newspaper.

Reed told The Free Press that on the urging of her school paper’s instructor, she reached out to Em’s longtime publicist, Dennis Dennehy and he was impressed by her offer. "I just thought, 'Wow, here's a middle school girl from Detroit who has some guts,'" he said.

The 14-year old student spoke to Shady last week about his experiences in school at her age. "He told me that he dropped out of school when he was my age,” she said, “and I thought about what that would be like for me if I did that right now. Then I thought, 'I like school!'"

The Cavalier Corner newspaper, which has a circulation of 500 copies, will come out on February 22.

Eminem is currently gearing up for his big performance with Dr. Dre at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards. XXL's March 2011 cover boy leads all nominees at the ceremony with 10 nominations including the coveted Album of the Year trophy for last year’s Recovery. —Elan Mancini
