Drake Beats Justin Bieber as Most Streamed Artist on Spotify
Now that Views is finally available on Spotify, Drake is officially the most streamed artist ever on the platform, beating the previous record holder Justin Bieber.
Drake's new LP has been on Spotify for less than a week, but it only took that long to push the Toronto MC past his fellow Canadian singer. A quick look at the analytics of the album show that every single song on the project has been streamed at least 2,000,000 times already, a staggering feat.
In addition, a look at Spotify's charts reveals that "One Dance," one of only two songs made available outside of Apple Music during the album's first two weeks next to "Pop Style," has continuously been the most streamed song on the platform from one day to another since it dropped.
Views is easily Drake's biggest album to date, selling over a million copies first week. He's doing a huge press run for it too, hosting and performing on SNL this past weekend and hitting Ellen today (May 18) to talk about the experience. He told DeGeneres the hardest part was transitioning from comedy to a live rendition of "One Dance."
“That was the hardest part,” he said. “I had to sing ‘One Dance’ for the first time. And I had to run from one side of the studio to the the other and then they throw you on stage. I tried to make the best of it. It’s definitely a tough task.”
