Diddy Tops Forbes’ 2017 List of Highest Paid Hip-Hop Artists
Diddy is on top once again. Recently, Forbes published their annual list of the highest-earning hip-hop artists, and the Bad Boy mogul checked in at No. 1 by raking in an estimated $130 million between June 2016 and June 2017.
How did Diddy earn so much money? Well, aside from running Bad Boy and Revolt TV, the rap industry legend made major moves with brands like Ciroc, DeLeon tequila and Aquahydrate water, all of which he's got a major stake in. Boss moves only.
Checking in at the No. 2 spot, of course, is Drake, whose massive streaming numbers and Boy Meets World tour helped him earn a ridiculous $94 million. Hov was No. 3, pulling in $42 million. No huge surprises here.
Also making the list were former XXL Freshmen Chance The Rapper ($33 million), Kendrick Lamar ($30 million) and Lil Yachty ($11 million). Chano made his money with his Magnificent Coloring world tour and endorsements from Kit Kat and Apple. K. Dot added to his fortune by embarking on his DAMN. tour (Forbes points out Kendrick now grosses "more than $1 million per tour stop") while Yachty parlayed his vibrant music and neon-colored branding to a Sprite endorsement and massive streaming numbers—which in turn earned him his millions of dollars.
Birdman ($20 million), DJ Khaled ($24 million), Nicki Minaj ($16 million) and Lil Wayne ($15.5 million) also did well for themselves last year, landing on Forbes' 2017 list of Hip-Hop Cash Kings. Salute.
