Danai Gurira, the actress who plays the samurai sword-swinging Michonne on The Walking Deadwill be Afeni Shakur in the Morgan Creek Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On MeDeadline reports that Gurira landed the major role and will join the cast in Atlanta where the movie is currently being filmed. The film is directed by Benny Boom (Next Day Air) .Tupac's mother is notoriously known as a respected political activist and member of the Black Panther plus is a major figure in her son's life. Afeni is the exec producer of All Eyez On Me and the head of her son’s estate

In addition to this news, E.D.I. Mean and Young Noble, the final remaining members of Pac’s Outlawz, posted a picture on Sunday (Jan. 10 on Twitter )after a set visit to give fans a sneak peek of the actors playing the roles of Pac and Suge Knight (See that picture below). Dominic L. Santana plays Suge and Tupac will be played by Demetrius Shipp Jr. It was previously reported that Jamal Woolard will reprises his role as Notorious B.I.G. in Tupac biopic. Woolard play Biggie in the 2009 biopic Notorious.

Production of the film started In December after after months of delays that included multiple director changes and an in-house lawsuit. John Singelton had left the project, saying on Instagram that, “The people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac.”

The film will cover Tupac Shakur's entire life, from his rise to stardom to his death in 1996, while also touching on his stint at Death Row Records, the East coast/West coast rap war and everything in-between. The film is produced by James G Robinson and David Robinson of Morgan Creek Productions, along with LT Hutton.
