Common has landed a role as the major villain opposite Keanu Reeves in the upcoming film John Wick 2, According to the Hollywood Reporter. While Common's legacy is all but set for all he's accomplished in hip-hop, the MC is also carving out a lane as a prolific actor. Common played James Bevel in last year's critically acclaimed film Selma, starred in the Liam Neeson-led Run All Night earlier this year, had a role in the drama Every Secret Thing alongside Elizabeth Banks and recently wrapped up filming on Barbershop 3. Common has also been cast in NBC's upcoming production of The Wiz as well as an unspecified role for the much anticipated DC Comics movie Suicide Squad.

Plot details for John Wick 2 have been kept quiet, but Common will reportedly play the head of security for a female crime lord. Keanu Reeves stars as titular character, an ex-hitman who is forced back into work when gangsters invade his home and kill his dog. The sequel to 2014's surprise hit John Wick begins shooting this week and will be directed by Chad Stahleski.

Common may have a lot on his acting plate, but he hasn't forgotten about his hip-hop roots by any means. The Chicago rapper spoke to XXL earlier this year to revisit his classic album Be on its 10th anniversary. He also took some time to give advice to the 2015 XXL Freshmen Class.
