Azealia Banks Drops Her New Dance Floor-Ready Song “Anna Wintour”
Azealia Banks continues to gear up for the release of her sophomore album, Fatasea II: The Second Wave. Today, the Harlem rapper drops her dance floor-ready anthem "Anna Wintour," named for the fashion world icon and long-tenured editor-in-chief of Vogue.
The Junior Sanchez-produced track finds Banks singing and rapping over an uptempo house beat. "Just take notes, stay on top like halos/Make pesos most of these bitches is my clones/You new puss, this catwalk is my throne/I'm penthouse, you're trap house and rhinestones," Banks raps.
Along with hard-hitting verses, Banks also showcases her vocals on the track, singing, "Now I feel in love babe/I really know that your love is enough and I'm/So lucky you found me in the day, I needed love/Now I feel in love babe, everywhere you are."
On Instagram, the "Soda" rapper called her new single the "gay wedding anthem of summer 2018," adding, "I can just imagine everyone walking down the aisle to this joint!"
In February, Banks revealed the tracklist for her upcoming project, which includes guest appearances from Busta Rhymes, Jamie Hince, NewBody and more. Spice Girls member Mel B was originally included on the tracklist and was supposed to be featured on "Anna Wintour" but was unable to record her vocals.
In July, XXL caught up with the Harlem rapper and asked her to describe the music she is making today. "I can feel myself maturing as a woman," she said. "I can feel myself becoming like my mother, in a sense. I can feel all of her tastes. All of the tastes she had when I was really young... I can feel myself appreciating all of those now."
