Alex Wiley is almost always guaranteed to supply his listeners with a healthy dose of druggy tunes and the Chicago rhymer dropped the trippy new track "Red Pill" yesterday (May 19) to once again prove just that. The song is a nod to the iconic neo-noir science fiction flick The Matrix and finds Wiley questioning perceptions of reality much like the movie's characters do. The track starts off with voiceovers from the film.

"I can't go back, can I?" asks Neo. "No," answers the all-knowing Morpheus, "but if you could, would you really want to?"

Wiley then proceeds to vibe over the eerie yet angelic beat conjured up by Mulatto Beats.

"Please stop it, don't try to stop this/Woke up early feeling vibrant, just out here vibin'/I feel so fucking alive/It wasn't always like this/A lotta boys missed the plane/But I'm in the cockpit."

The Chicago up-and-comer is definitely no stranger to rapping about the rabbit hole prescription drugs provide. Wiley fans argue that "Ideas (Adderall)" is a standout from 2014's Village Party and Wiley talks openly about his drug use in it.

"Red Pill" is Wiley's first release since 2015's Village Pary 2: Heaven's Gate. He was also on a recent leak of a collab with fellow Chi-Town rhymers Mick Jenkins and Chance The Rapper, "Grown Ass Kid," a leftover track from Chance's latest mixtape Coloring Book.

"Red Pill" is available for purchase on iTunes now, but in the meantime, you can listen to the trip above.
