50 Cent Claims He Turned Off His Own Instagram Account
50 Cent has cleared the air about why his Instagram account was deactivated.
On Sunday afternoon (Nov. 17), 50 jumped on his Twitter timeline to address the rumor that his Instagram account was shut down. According to 50, the rapper, who dropped his last studio album Animal Ambition: An Untamed Desire to Win back in 2014, shut down his Instagram page himself.
"LOL Im cool with all these false report, if you don’t know why something happens you can’t just make some shit up smh I turned my own IG page off SUCKERS. #LeCheminDuRoi #bransoncognac," 50 said in a tweet that includes a screenshot of a news story suggesting that 50's IG account was deactivated because he made some jokes at the expense of Power actress Naturi Naughton.
50 Cent has become well known for his antics on Instagram. While his fans and followers seemed to enjoy his comical posts, other people like UFC fighter Conor McGregor don't find the jokes too funny. In an interview from last month, McGregor admitted that he would step into the octagon with 50 after the rapper's ongoing trolling spree on Instagram over the years.
"I’d have to probably say 50 Cent, I’d like to fight him," McGregor said. "Throughout the course of the [Floyd] Mayweather build-up I used him as a tool, a promotional tool on the free also, I knew he was linked to Floyd so I tied him in also and he responded big time and we capitalized on that audience so I was very thankful. But then after that, he began a little tirade against me on social media, particularly Instagram where he’d make these memes about me constantly."
Within the last month alone, the Power creator, who toured overseas earlier this year, has called out people like Cuba Gooding Jr., Comcast CEO Brian L. Roberts and, of course, Floyd Mayweather Jr. on his IG timeline. Now that his Instagram is down, for the time being, 50 says he'll be much more active on Twitter.
