It takes a lot of work for a rapper to run a city, especially when it's a historically musical city like Memphis, Tennessee. But, after Three 6 Mafia paved the way for him, Southern rap impresario and street legend Yo Gotti has steadily been on his grind for over a decade to become the presiding King Of Memphis. To date, Gotti's released four independent albums-including the seminal and self-explanatory breakout LP From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game-that helped him build an enormous buzz, which led to his recent signing with the revitalized (L.A. Reid-helmed) Epic Records.

Despite getting signed at the age of 31, Gotti—who just last year released part 7 of his Cocaine Muzik mixtape series—has been hard at work on his Epic debut. As he gears up for the release of his album I Am (set to drop this Fall), he's decided to release a brand new single called "Act Right," featuring fellow Southern rhymer Young Jeezy and West Coast connect YG.

To celebrate the occasion, Gotti invited XXL down to Memphis to join him as he premieres the song on local radio station K97 on Thursday, June 6th. Coincidentally, he'll also be celebrating his birthday on the same day, and will be performing at his annual Birthday Bash at famed Memphis venue The Orpheum.
