Yelawolf’s New Album ‘Love Story’ Will Drop in April
After headlining the Slumerican Made Tour late last year, Yelawolf is gearing up to release his highly anticipated sophomore album, Love Story, on April 21.
The second LP from Yelawolf will be executive produced by Shady Records head honcho Eminem and will have production from Malay, WLPWR, as well as Slim Shady himselm. Love Story will serve as the follow up to the Alabama rapper's solo debut, Radioactive, and will feature the latest single from Yelawolf titled "Whiskey in a Bottle." The Trunk Muzik rapper describes his forthcoming LP as a "more passionate" project than his 2011 release and will include the rapper's acoustic guitar-anchored hit “Till It’s Gone,” which was featured on the FX show Sons of Anarchy. Yelawolf previously released three tracks off Love Story, including “Box Chevy V,” which he premiered in early 2014 on Sirius XM’s Shade 45 station; “Honey Brown”; and “Down,” which also appeared on 2014’s Shady XV album.
Love Story was recorded over two years largely at Nashville’s legendary Blackbird Studios. He spoke about the difference between making Radioactive and Love Story to us last November.
"My last album was so rushed," said the Alabama-born rapper. "It was like a fucking rush to do everything; rushing to get it in, rush to do this, etc; a lot outside ideas. For instance, I walked in the studio and Lil Jon was already on my record. So things like that happened throughout the entire album. That production company is gone, it doesn’t exist anymore. After talking to Marshall, this time around, were just going to go back to the roots. Just give me the keys to the studio—which they did—I’ll turn in an album and we'll take it from there. There’s no one else involved. Me, the producers, the musicians that I invite, after I speak to Marshall and that’s it. It’s kind of like invite only."
Along with the announcement of the new project, Yelawolf has released the cover art (see above) for the album, which is set to launch under Slumerican/Shady Records/Interscope Records. Watch the lyric video for "Whiskey in a Bottle" below.
