If you pulled the average rap fan off the street in 2010 and asked them to predict who the genre's biggest stars would be five years later, some would have likely deferred to inertia: Kanye West, Drake, Lil Wayne, Jay Z and so on. Some might have looked to the mixtape circuit, citing young artists whose buzz was just starting to reach a fever pitch. But it would be a safe bet to say that no one could have guessed that El-P and Killer Mike would team up to become one of the most popular acts in music, let alone hip-hop. Together as Run The Jewels, the New York-Atlanta connection has yielded two critically and popularly adored LPs (plus a cat-based remix album), not to mention Mike's R.A.P. Music, which is produced entirely by the Def Jux founder. With a third LP slated for release next year, Mike and Jaime hit the stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! to play one song from each of their two albums.

Both "Crown," from 2014's Run The Jewels 2 and "Run The Jewels" from the self-titled 2013 debut were hits with the New York crowd, who allowed Mike to navigate his dead-eyed verse on the former, yet matched the duo's energy on the latter. Run The Jewels 3 is expected to be issued by Mass Appeal, the Nas-helmed label that released the second installment. (The first record was issued by Fool's Gold.) Watch both videos above.
