Can you smell what Wale is cooking? The Washington D.C. rapper releases his first offering via his new deal with Warner Bros. Records, delivering the new Free Lunch EP.

Rappers sometimes find inspiration from some strange places and Wale's new project definitely has a peculiar origin story. Back in August, the Maybach Music Group rapper vented his frustrations with the courier company Postmates due to the reported constant mishandling of his meal deliveries. "If I had a dollar for everytime @Postmates gave my shyt to somebody else .. then I could just buy postmates and prolly get my food 6x," he tweeted.

After the company offered to look into the mishaps, Wale responded, "Hot take ~I think y’all drivers be stealing." A few weeks later, hinted that something was afoot musically. "There is always a plan B 👀 @postmates http://walefreelunch.com," he posted on Twitter on Sept. 6.

Free Lunch features five tracks, with J. Cole and Eric Bellinger providing assists on the brief offering, which adds to Wale's productive year.

The D.C. MC has been supplying fans with plenty of material in 2018, including the two EPs It's Complicated and Self Promotion. Now it's time to eat.
