SXSW is going down in Austin, Texas right now and many of the who’s who in music are out there having a blast. If you haven’t been, it’s safe to say it’s like Disneyland for music heads - there's surprise and fun at every corner. Wale knows whats up. The MMG rhymer was feeling the vibes out there so much that he decided to bless fans with a sneak peek of his forthcoming LP SHINE.

Wale hit the stage at the Scoot Inn on Tuesday evening (March 15) and during his set he took a moment to debut a new song. Backed by a live band, Wale belted out his new slow jam “Pretty Young Thing,” a remake of the Michael Jackson classic. Although fans are familiar with Wale’s R&B side on songs like “Bad” and the Miguel-assisted “Lotus Flower Bomb," the new jam pushes the envelope even further. It’s clear that Folarin is in a new space. He even told Complex that he was going for a different sound for his fifth studio album. “This one just feels different. It's just about having your vibe and your glow. This is really just about shining,” he said in January.  The upbeat tempo on “PYT” speaks to his newfound happiness.

Tuesday night was the first time fans got to hear “PYT” in it’s entirety. The cut was in the works since 2015, but fans first got to hear a snippet of the song in February when Flolarin shared a video of him working on the track in the studio. He has always loved the original MJ song. Back in April 2009 he and J.Cole performed “PYT” at a Virginia karaoke bar.

Although Wale hasn’t announced a release date for the album, it looks like his new single could be made available soon.
