Vince Staples’ New Songs With Pharrell Didn’t Make ‘FM!’ Album
So it looks like Vince Staples and Pharrell have some music in the stash. Fresh off dropping his new FM! album earlier today (Nov. 2), the California rapper launched his new Beats 1 Radio show, Ramona Radio and spoke on his creative process, his new album's features and more. During the show, the former XXL Freshman revealed that he and Skateboard P had recorded new tracks for his newly released LP.
Addressing a national audience, Vince discussed the process that went into creating his LP before admitting that he has so many tracks with Pharrell that he has to wait until he drops the next project to debut them.
"This is a very special project," he begins. "It's not the album—you'll have to wait for that. We have a lot of projects. We took the Pharrell ones off this one, we have too many Pharrell ones. Maybe next project."
While Staples doesn't specify whether or not Pharrell is actually on songs with him or he just produced them, any Staples-Skateboard P collab has the potential to be dope.
Elsewhere during the first episode of Ramona Radio, Staples explains a bit more about the making of his Big Fish Theory follow-up while speaking on his late friend, Mac Miller.
"We had a beautiful experience making this project," he says. "The album coming soon, by the way. Song with Skateboard P. Rest in peace Mac Miller, vital to this moment. We gon' let the music talk, because he let the music talk."
FM!, which features 11 tracks, has guest appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Jay Rock, Earl Sweatshirt, Kamaiyah, Tyga and Kehlani.
