Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa Have Discussed Working Together
Despite any previous tension between them, Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa still have fans hoping they'll come together to work together in the future. The Chicago natives are doing amazing work in their own right, but the hip-hop community could use some tunes from them as a collaboration.
During an interview with Real 92.3 in Los Angeles while promoting The Manuscript EP, Mensa revealed that he and his fellow Chi-Town native have been texting recently, and even discussed the possibility of doing work together. If you recall, fans have speculated there's tension between the two after Vic blacked Chance out of a photo of the two of them with Jay Z and Beyoncé. Mensa has previously deemed their alleged beef as "competition" between them, but it looks like, despite their differences, the rappers could collaborate soon.
"We haven't talked much, but we texted the other day," Vic stated. As far as working together, Mensa simply says, "We talked about it."
For the rest of the conversation, Mensa addresses a slew of other topics, including his upcoming debut album, which he says should see the light of day soon, but didn't reveal a title. The "OMG" MC also confirmed Kanye West is not on the debut album, even though fans were hoping for an appearance. He then broke down some of what fans can expect from the debut project.
"I'm done with the album, so with this capsule project that I just put out is really all part of the album process. So it's music that I made while making the album. The album is real personal, vulnerable and powerful music. [It's] definitely my favorite work of mine to date. I'm super excited for the world to hear it," Mensa told the hosts.
The rapper and activist also shared his thoughts on Bill Maher, who recently stirred up controversy for his use of the N-word on his Real Time talk show on HBO.
"I don't know. He's just stupid," he says. "I don't give a fuck about Bill Maher. I don't think about Bill Maher, care about him. I don't really watch TV, but I do think that that was completely in bad taste."
