While South Florida has become known for the lo-fi trap and the rambunctious stylings of artists like Ski Mask The Slump God and Lil Pump, Altamonte Springs, Fla.'s own Tyla Yaweh leaves his mark with silky smooth vocals. Now, he's using them to become the Sunshine State's next artist to blow.

Raised to enjoy the sounds of gospel, country, R&B and hip-hop, Yaweh lets loose the sort of rock-tinged, trap-infused R&B that's earned him comparisons to Swae Lee. It's also helped get him a co-sign from Post Malone, a person he's known since the beginning of both their professional music careers.

Yaweh started to pick up some momentum when he dropped his 4:44 A.M. EP in 2015, following up with 2017's No Name EP. He has collaborated with the likes of Juice Wrld ("Blink 182"), Ski Mask The Slump God, PnB Rock ("Wraith Skating"), French Montana ("Salute") and more, as he's become an increasingly well-known name. In late February, he released Heart Full of Rage, a 10-track project that solidifies his status as an artist on the rise.

With stylistic range, a Post Malone co-sign and a sizable buzz at his back, Yaweh is all set to level up. Get to know him on XXL's The Break.

Age: 23

Hometown:  Altamonte Springs, Fla.

I grew up listening to: "I listened to a lot of My Chemical Romance [and] The Used. I was skateboarding, so sometimes I'd skate to MF Doom. [I] listened to a lot of [Lil Wayne], then I go to back to listen to The Doors, or the Sex Pistols [and] Green Day—so many. I had a big book of music in my head. I listened to everything. Grew up on gospel, country so much music."

My style’s been compared to: "I get compared to Swae Lee a lot. I get it—we're both Geminis."

Most people don’t know: "I used to skateboard a lot. I still do. I just beat someone in a game of skate for $1,500."

My standout moments to date have been: "Being at Coachella, watching [Post Malone] perform. Meeting legends like Tommy Lee. Being on tour with Post, going to Germany and Sweden and seeing how many people react and love my music out there. It's a lot of dope moments that I think about."

My most slept-on song: "Probably '4:44 A.M.'"

My goal in hip-hop: "Make a new lane for different artists that wanna really express themselves. That's happening now, but I really wanna give a sound where I can create other artists; that 'wanna be like me' type situation. I wanna bring good music back. When my music come out, I wanna make other artists actually wanna work harder on their album."

I’m going to blow up because: "Because I'm the new Michael Jackson."
