Today in Hip-Hop: Tony Yayo Gets Arrested for Allegedly Slapping Teen

On this day, March 24, in hip-hop history...

2007: One of G-Unit's many beefs took an alarming turn in 2007.

50 Cent and G-Unit are immense figures in rap, and are also tied up in a myriad of beefs. With this being known all over the world, the crew would often get into dust-ups. In this particular case, core G-Unit member Tony Yayo was arrested on March 24, 2007, due to allegedly slapping a rival's son in the face.

The alleged event took place earlier in the same week of Yayo's arrest. In New York City, Yayo and his associates were riding around and spotted a kid wearing a Czar Entertainment shirt. This is relevant because Czar Entertainment was G-Unit rival Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond's company, and Henchman managed The Game, who was recently ousted from G-Unit.

Upon seeing the child wearing the shirt, Yayo and his team exited their car and slapped the 14-year-old. This all culminated in Yayo being arrested and charged with harassment, assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Over a year later, Tony Yayo took a plea deal and got all of the previously-mentioned charges dropped, leaving him with a minor harassment charge. To fulfill his legal obligations, he had to do 10 days of community service. Yayo's relatively smooth legal process was helped by his associate, Lowell "Lodi Mack" Fletcher, who was present during the alleged assault. Lowell admitted in an unrelated interview with the police that he actually slapped Rosemond's child.

Yayo's version of the story includes him trying to restrain Fletcher from attacking the victim. Lowell ended up doing nine months in jail and he was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, while he was concurrently serving time for a drug charge.
