The Weeknd and Grey Goose vodka had a private show planned in Los Angeles on Friday night (Aug. 25), but things didn't quite go as planned.

Abel was on hand to perform at the vodka's 20th anniversary shindig that was to take place at the Werkartz warhouse. But, according to Page Six, hundreds of people who showed up to the lituation were turned away and told the party would not go on. More and more people continued to arrive, even after stagehands were shuffling gear back into vehicles.

According to the report, the show was shut down before it even got started by fire marshalls, due to an issue with permits.

Grey Goose later sent out an e-mail addressing the closing of the event. “Due to unforeseen production issues, tonight’s event has been canceled. That said, Grey Goose and The Weeknd will be back together soon – bigger and better!” it read.

As far as shows that are more than certain to go down, Weeknd will be performing at the 2017 MTV Music Awards. Also set to grace the stage is Kendrick Lamar. The XO head is up for an award in the category of Video of the Year, facing off with DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller (“Wild Thoughts”), Bruno Mars (“24k Magic”), Kendrick Lamar ("Humble") and Alessia Cara (“Scars to Your Beautiful”).

The awards air tomorrow (Aug. 27).
