The 2016 American Music Awards are underway tonight (Nov. 20) and Canada's crowning R&B singer The Weeknd electrified the stage with a live performance of his new hit single "Starboy."

Taking the stage around 9 p.m. EST, Weeknd made his way through a glass, prismatic tunnel for the performance.

"Starboy" is the lead single off Abel's third studio album, aptly titled Starboy, which is set to drop this week on Black Friday, Nov. 25. The Canadian crooner dropped the official track list for the LP last Friday and with features from Kendrick Lamar, Future, Daft Punk and more, Starboy is one of the most anticipated albums to drop in what's left of 2016. Aside from "Starboy" and "False Alarm," Weeknd shared the new songs "I Feel It Coming" and "Party Monster" last week.

"Starboy" has proven to set the right tone for The Weeknd's new album. The Daft Punk-assisted single peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and he's performed it on Saturday Night Live and at the 2016 MTV EMAs.
