Rico Nasty Cruises Through New York City in “Countin Up” Video
In the Joe Cavallini-directed visual, the Maryland spitter takes aim at her competitors while cruising through the streets of New York City in an old school whip. With some eclectic outfits and Supreme hair accessories, Rico flaunts her riches from scene to scene. "You can't even handle a bitch like me, make my own money and I buy my own weed/Touch my wrist and your hand gon' freeze/Begging for the kitty on his hands and knees," she raps.
It's clear the "Rage" rhymer took influence from hip-hop's golden age, with the energetic, in-your-face visual mirroring those from veterans like Missy Elliott and the sample of N.O.R.E.'s "Superthug." When XXL spoke to Rico in early June, she shared how her producer, Kenny Beats, took the classic track and made it his own. "The Noreaga joint ["Countin Up,"] he cooked that up, remade that ["Superthug"] beat, added the helicopter everything, studied it," she explained. In regards to the project as a whole she adds "This is just another stage of my life that I was able to document and share with my fans."
The weeks surrounding NASTY have been a whirlwind for Rico, with a tour lined up next for the Atlantic Records signee. Starting July 27, the 21-year-old will embark on a 28-city tour across North America, which includes several festivals in California, Kansas and Canada.
