Raekwon Says GZA Turned Down Being in the Juice Crew [VIDEO]
Raekwon revealed a nugget of Wu-Tang history during his appearance on XXL‘s weekly Spotlight UStream show yesterday afternoon (February 9), over a pint of Häagen-Dazs ice cream.
According to The Chef, before the Wu formed like Voltron, his partner in rhyme The Genius apparently had an opportunity to join the Juice Crew. "Back then, they said that GZA turned down being one of the members of the Juice Crew." [Watch below]
The Juice Crew, known as the dominant crew in the rap’s golden era included such hip-hop legends as Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, MC Shan, Craig G, Biz Markie, Masta Ace, Roxanne Shanté, and of course crew leader DJ Marley Marl, who helped pave the way for other supergroups like The mighty W.
During the hour long convo, Rae also spoke on his upcoming album, Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang, another, untitled disc he plans to drop six months after and his relationship with RZA."I know people get misconceptions, but at the end of the day there's no beef with none of my brothers."
