It looks like rumors of Rae Sremmurd's demise were exaggerated. On Saturday night (Jan. 12), just hours after Slim Jxmmi tweeted some semi-cryptic posts hinting at the duo's breakup, the Rae Sremmurd Twitter account shot down rumors of a split.

"Brothers gonna be brothers, it’s SREMMLIFE," tweeted the duo, which is comprised of Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi.

Now, that's not a definite indicator that all is well in the Sremm camp, but it's definitely a good sign for fans who were hoping for a SremmLife 4. Those hopes were seemingly dashed when Jxmmi let loose some tweets hinting at his departure from the duo he started with his younger brother.

"I'm not Rae Sremmurd I'm Slim Jxmmi and ima sink or swim by myself," he wrote. "Not Sremmlife," he continued in another tweet.

The idea of a Rae Sremmurd breakup is one that's always been a bubbling narrative when it comes to coverage of the Mississippi duo. On one hand, a lot of musical groups have broken up over the years. On the other, people have always suspected that Swae Lee, with his smooth vocals and steady stream of standout features, would ultimately go the solo route.

Still, up until yesterday, the pair had shown no signs of splitting up. Their last album, Sr3mm, was a three part LP that included a solo album from Jxmmi and Lee in addition to a Rae Sremmurd album. All three efforts earned critical acclaim and some commercial success.
