Princess Nokia's A Girl Cried Red is a project filled with gloom, but her latest video, this one for "Morphine," is a celebratory one.

Released on July 13, the visual, co-directed by Travis Libin and Nokia herself, finds the rapper dancing with her friends on a playground and atop a roof. The vibe is definitely a joyous one, especially for a track that begins with Nokia uttering the phrase, "Smash my heart in pieces, it looks so good on the floor." It's a recurrent statement on A Girl Cried Red.

"People think it's fun and games but my life is really lonely/Ain't nobody that can save me, ain't nobody that console me/I'm an emo little boy and I want someone to hold me/Got my money like a blanket and I hold it when I'm lonely," she sings on the song, which is really just one verse.

Released in April, A Girl Cried Red marks a stylistic departure for Nokia, who performed at the 2018 Coachella that same month. On the eight-track project, the 26-year-old New ork native ditches the bars and opts for the outright rock route. If you haven't, you should definitely give it a listen.
