Post Malone’s ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’ Album Breaks Spotify’s First-Week Streaming Record
Post Malone is Hulk-smashing records on Spotify. For the second week in a row, the rapper's new album Beerbongs & Bentleys has broken one of the popular streaming service's records, this time setting a new mark for streams in a week.
Spotify verified the huge accomplishment with an announcement on Twitter on Saturday (May 5). "He's done it again," the tweet reads. "@PostMalone's 'beerbongs & bentleys' has broken the first week streaming record both globally (411,816,710) and in the U.S. (236,500,546)."
This comes a week after Post broke the record for most first day streams on Spotify. To accomplish that feat, he raked in 78,744,748 streams globally and 47,930,039 streams in the U.S. He ousted J. Cole's KOD LP on the way to setting the new record, which had just set a new mark on the previous week.
Posty's sophomore album, which is spearheaded by the hit songs "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage and "Psycho" featuring Ty Dolla $ign, features guest appearances from YG, G-Eazy, Swae Lee and Nicki Minaj. It only took a couple of days for the album to be certified platinum by the RIAA.
As if the offering needed any more promotion, Post kicked off his North American tour in support of the project with 21 Savage and SOB x RBE on April 26. They will hit up 28 cities on the trek including Denver, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas and more, before closing out in San Francisco, Calif. on June 24.
