Hip-hop continues to mourn the loss of Phife Dawg, who passed away last week. The A Tribe Called Quest member's family and friends were able to celebrate his life and pay their respect at his funeral, which was held today (March 29).

Details of Phife Dawg's funeral were kept private, but a video of the service was streamed on Periscope. You can view the 19 minute video at this link.

Phife Dawg's death has certainly left a gaping hole in the hip-hop community's heart, but the outpouring of love and support for the Five Foot Assassin has been a sight to see. People from all walks of life - everyone from traffic reporters to WWE wrestlers - have paid their respects to the influential MC.

Many heartfelt messages have come from those closest to Phife Dawg as well as those who simply were fans. A Tribe Called Quest released an official statement regarding their brother's passing, which you can read a portion of below.

"Our hearts are heavy. We are devastated. This is something we weren’t prepared for although we all know that life is fleeting. It was no secret about his health and his fight. But the fight for his joy and happiness gave him everything he needed. The fight to keep his family happy, his soul happy and those around him happy, gave him complete and unadulterated joy… until he heeded his fathers call."

Phife Dawg might be gone, but his legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace to the Five Footer.
