Was Pharrell’s Grammy Hat Paying Homage To Malcolm McLaren?

Last night  (Jan. 26) at the Grammys one of the main polarizing topic of discussion was Pharrell's now infamous Grammy hat. It was not subtle at all and drew many comparisons to a myriad of different things. But was Skateboard P's hat paying homage to a late musician. Talks over the internet are popping up saying that the hat was actually paying homage to the late British musician Malcolm McLaren. If you watch the video for "Buffalo gals" you clearly see the hat in the video. Was this Pharrell paying respect or was it just a new fashion trend? Watch "Buffalo gals" above.
